Cricket World Cup contributing to Australia Tourism

It is every country’s desire to ensure that the Tourism increases every year. The best way of ensuring it is to attract Tourists, by advertising about the various attractions one can offer for them. In the same line Australia is also trying to increase its share. It had its maximum collection from China but despite the fall in the visitor count from China, Australia succeeded in fetching 30 billion dollars last year.
The tourism lobby is trying out new tools to attract the tourists from all over the world.  The online visa that was earlier available only for 27 countries has now been expanded to almost 40 more countries to witness a surge in tourist count from other countries too. The main reason for this is the sudden change is the Cricket World Cup that is being co hosted by Australia. Sports especially cricket has potential to bring countries together and also promote tourism in the hosting country. Since ancient times, it is being seen that people use sport as one of the ways to join hands with strangers. Asians being cricket lovers are one of the main contributors in their tourism revenue.

Just imagine if in today’s time if people get a huge amount of discounts in hotels, club houses, restaurants & various other places, then definitely more people will eventually come. The airlines will be packed. Since this event will last for than a month, then the amount of revenue which tourism will generate will be enormous. Plus this event has returned to their country after 23 years. So it has a very special significance for Australia. Cricket is not just a game; it is a sport which brings various communities together. So it has the magnetic power to attract countries as well. The legends of this game further can help to attract people to Australia. Australia is targeting specially India. As it has the capacity to almost contribute 33% along with it, also bring in others as well.

Due to India’s presence itself the number is going to increase to almost 2 Lakhs, told by the country manager of India Mr. Nishant Kashikar. In lieu of this Australia has also initiated a plan to launch a joint visa for Australia & New Zealand from 26 Jan to 5 April 2015. A special Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed with the Indian Prime Minister as well. Various airlines like Malaysian, Air India & Singapore airlines have also been roped in for this lucrative event.
